Even if you are unhappy with misaligned or crooked teeth, the thought of wearing metal braces may make you feel hesitant to seek treatment. Fortunately, Drs. Richard A. Caron and John P. Kenney offer state-of-the-art Invisalign® clear orthodontics at our Tupelo practice. This treatment option uses a series of clear, removable aligner trays to gently straighten your teeth and realign your bite. Invisalign® Treatment

Invisalign® has become a popular orthodontic treatment option for those who wish to straighten their teeth discreetly. These clear plastic trays are hardly noticeable to those around you, but can produce the same results as traditional braces. We will take pictures and measurements of your teeth to create a series of custom aligner trays. Each tray is shaped slightly differently, and with each new aligner, your smile will gradually become straighter. Invisalign® can correct overbites, underbites, and other forms of malocclusion. We also offer Invisalign Teen®, which comes with extra aligner trays and built-in indicators that let the patient know when it is time to wear the next aligner in the series.

Before you begin treatment, you will undergo a thorough consultation with Dr. Caron or Dr. Kenney. If your dentist determines that you are a good candidate for Invisalign®, he will take impressions and pictures of your teeth. Using these images and specially designed computer software, he will create a 3-D map of your bite. Your dentist can use this detailed image to develop your personalized treatment plan and show you how your teeth will shift over the course of your treatment.

Next, the dentist will send these images to an Invisalign® lab, where technicians will create aligner trays designed to fit snugly yet comfortably around your teeth. You will wear each tray for approximately two weeks, and as you graduate to each successive aligner, your teeth will migrate closer to their proper positions. Treatment typically takes 12 to 18 months. Once it is complete, you will need to wear a retainer to maintain the effects of treatment.

Correcting a Range of Orthodontic Issues

Like many of our patients, you may assume that Invisalign® is only suitable for minor cosmetic adjustments. While the treatment can certainly improve the appearance of your smile, Invisalign® is capable of correcting serious orthodontic concerns, like overbites, underbites, and crossbites.

In addition to traditional Invisalign®, we also offer two specialized treatment plans designed specifically to meet your needs. Invisalign® Express 10 is suitable if you are only concerned with cosmetic treatment. Invisalign® Express 10 consists of five aligners, and patients can achieve a cosmetic enhancement in their anterior teeth in just ten weeks. This treatment is excellent for patients wishing to look their best for upcoming events like graduations or weddings.

Invisalign Teen® is similar to traditional Invisalign® treatment, but comes with up to six replacement trays in case young patients misplace some trays. The aligners are also equipped with a special blue dot that indicates when it is time to wear the next tray in the series.

Treatment Benefits

In addition to its health and cosmetic benefits, there are a number of reasons to consider Invisalign®. First, Invisalign® is extremely discreet. The clear plastic trays are nearly invisible, even at a close distance, so you can straighten your teeth without feeling self-conscious about an obvious orthodontic appliance. The aligners are also removable, making it easier to maintain good hygiene and prevent dental discoloration during the course of your treatment. You can also enjoy any foods you like during treatment. Just remove your aligners, eat any food you choose, clean your teeth and replace the aligners.

Invisalign® is often considered more comfortable than other forms of orthodontic treatment. The smooth plastic will not irritate soft tissue, and the trays can straighten your teeth using a very gentle force. Meanwhile, Invisalign® costs about the same as traditional braces, and treatment time is comparable.
