Brighten Your Smile with Teeth Whitening

Teeth Whitening

We proudly offer Philips Zoom!® and KöR® teeth whitening treatments to help you achieve a dazzling smile. An in-office Zoom!® whitening can brighten your smile by several shades during a single appointment. If you are seeking the comprehensive benefits offered by an in-office treatment and take-home kit, the KöR® system may be right for you. After creating a set of custom whitening trays, we will perform a whitening here at our practice. You will then return home with the trays and KöR® whitening gel so that you can perform touch-ups and extend the results of treatment.

Staining and discoloration can have a significant effect on the appearance of your smile. Fortunately, Drs. Richard A. Caron and John P. Kenney offer effective, convenient teeth whitening. At Tupelo Smiles Family and Cosmetic Dentistry, we offer both at-home and in-office treatment, and will help you select the option that best suits your needs. Professional whitening is safe and affordable, and can help you achieve a dramatically brighter smile in one simple treatment. Understanding Dental Stains

There are two types of dental discoloration. Intrinsic stains are located on the inner surface of your teeth, and are often the result of certain medications, health conditions, or a root canal. Although teeth whitening typically cannot eliminate these stains, we offer several other treatments, including porcelain veneers and bonding, which can conceal even deep-set discoloration to give you a dazzling smile.

Most stains are located on the surface of your teeth. Most often, these extrinsic stains are the result of dark-colored foods and drinks, such as coffee, red wine, berries, and tomato sauce. Extrinsic stains can also be caused by the natural aging process, environmental factors, genetics, and tobacco use. Pigmented molecules from these foods can create stains that cannot be eliminated with daily brushing and flossing, but we offer whitening options that can effectively eliminate deep stains and help your smile look dazzling.

Whitening Options

Both in-office and at-home Philips Zoom!® treatments use a peroxide-based whitening gel to break down the chemical bonds that hold stains together. Both treatment options have their own distinct advantages, and we can help you choose the method that suits your lifestyle and budget.

In-office whitening offers immediate results. During treatment, your dentist will apply the whitening gel to your teeth, using special guards to protect sensitive gum tissue. To activate the gel, the dentist will shine a special light on your teeth. He will leave the gel on for about 15 minutes before removing it and applying a new layer. Treatment will typically consist of three 15-minutes sessions, helping you achieve a smile that can be up to eight shades lighter over the span of about an hour.

At-home treatment is used to achieve more gradual results, but you can administer it whenever it is most convenient for you. To whiten at home, the dentist will provide you with a customized whitening tray made from impressions of your teeth. You will fill the tray with whitening gel and wear it for about 30 minutes a day for up to two weeks. If you have an especially busy schedule, you can also select an overnight treatment option. The results of at-home treatment are comparable to in-office bleaching.

In addition to Philips Zoom!®, we also proudly offer the KöR® whitening system, which combines in-office and take home treatments. With this approach, you will use the professional-strength KöR® whitening gel and custom trays to dramatically brighten your smile. The KöR® whitening solution is specially formulated to help minimize sensitivity.
